Lovely country setting, just a 10 minute drive from busy Taunton.

After 3 years of being closed and boarded up, an old favourite pub was reopened with new staff, new owners, a new look and put back on the map.

It’s located just outside of Norton Fitzwarren, next to the Victory level crossing. A good size car park, homely and welcoming look on the outside with inside being renovated in a very tasteful way, there’s plenty of different areas to suit everyone’s needs, from a cosy corner for two, to a large function room for a family or group get together. It has been well thought out and spaced out, there isn’t anywhere where you feel you’re on top of other people or having to squeeze between tables.

With two entrances, both greeting you with a different style of bar; stocked with a good selection of ales, lager, wines, soft drinks, shots, whiskeys and port – certainly something for everyone whether that’s for a casual drink on a lazy afternoon, catch up with friends for a coffee or a formal evening with champagne. Adding to this, a welcoming, friendly and very effective team of bar and waiting staff who ask all the right questions and remember the small touches count most.

From ordering drinks, choosing where to sit, to ordering food, all flows and nothing is a hassle. The pub serves high quality, extremely well cooked food, beautifully presented and in the evening dining with a candle lit, and relaxing atmosphere – perfection!

The menus, presented on engraved wooden clipboards adds a different touch once again, with a varied menu there is something for everything to choose and love. To finish the meal, there’s a lovely selection of sweets to compliment the main meal, along with multiple options of teas and coffees.

Besides the two medium size dining rooms, there is a large function room perfect for any occasion whether that be a wedding, birthday party, Christmas party or christening, the venue has it all. The function room has two sets of French doors leading out to a nicely fitted large decking area and rear garden, idea for children to run around and let off steam or for a family to have a football game on a lovely sunny afternoon. The place is also surrounded by stunning views, especially when the steam train toots on past on a crisp Sunday morning.

Another attraction to what this place offers, is the popular Sunday carvery. One thing that has been a hit from day one, serving 3 different slowly menucooked meats, a selection of 7 vegetables, homemade Yorkshire puddings, sage and onion stuffing, dauphinoise potatoes, roast potatoes and homemade beef gravy. All cooked fresh and served from 12pm till 4pm alongside the full lunch and main menu all day. The food that is served is of such high quality and cooked with passion which can seen by the detail in the presentation.

The staff do their job with passion and care that isn’t seen everywhere nowadays. Their want is for the customer to have the best experience when visiting, always making sure everything is okay but in a fashion where you don’t feel interrupted all the time. They ask a couple minutes into the meal to see if the food is to your liking, theDP0A9139n leave to enjoy the delicious food and your time spent there. The staff completes the experience to the pub and adds that bit extra too. The customer never feels rushed or devalued, everything is at the customers pace and everyone is catered to their needs. Although there currently isn’t a play area, the young customers are not forgotten, with activity packs, unlimited refillable drinks, wide selection of soft drinks and a menu which makes every dish individual for the young customer.

Furry friends are welcome as well, with complimentary dog biscuits to make even their experience a good one, several dog bowls around the establishment to make sure they even enjoy a refreshing drink alongside you.

Every aspect of what a pub should have, is here. Each individual customer is made to feel special, when it’s a birthday, person gets a complimentary bottle of wine – giving that extra bit back to the customer. The pub has got it spot on here and every aspect should be successful.

The future is very bright and exciting for a place as great as this.
